Seattle Gents Invite Guests to Learn How Fashion & Tech Intersect

January was surely a slow week for fashion in Seattle. I happily took advantage of my non-eventful schedule by organizing my ideas for new content. But while I have enjoyed how slow the last few months have been, I was starting to miss getting "glammed up" for a night on the town to make new fashion connections.

With the rise of fashion tech over the last few years, the Seattle Gents gathered a group of knowledgeable professionals to share their thoughts on the current and future states of the concept. ATLAS Workspace opened its doors for guests to hear from Nick Hughes, creator of Founders Live; Elizabeth Geri, fashion executive; Cynthia Houlton, Head of Revenue at Armoire; and Shanya Tsai, founder of Savvy Closet, Inc.

A few notable points included the challenge of connecting the gap between fashion and tech, how marketing positions have evolved as a means to target the right buyers for brands, and how close we are to crossing the line when it comes to protecting consumer data. As a professional in the digital marketing space, I was curious to find out how influential the customer base at Armoire was in determining which brands the company carries. Thankfully, Cynthia had a great answer.

When we think about buyer personas, we’re really identifying what brands and categories of clothing these personas want. Since it’s apparel, it has a shelf life so we always need to be refining what we’re purchasing and it’s a combination of fit, style, etc. and it’s always evolving. The clothes have to be fit-friendly, profile-friendly, etc. Our customers are professional women and we want to provide pieces that make them look and feel good. It’s a challenge, but we’re constantly working on ways to make things better.

An intimate panel discussion was the perfect way to kick off another year of stylish and engaging fashion events. If you're interested in attending events hosted by the Seattle Gents, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Eventbrite.
