McQueen: Fashion Meets Film at Pacific Place
I woke up earlier than usual on a Saturday morning to dress myself to McQueen: Fashion Meets Film at Pacific Place. I'd already seen the documentary during the Seattle International Film Festival's Fashion Film Fridays Series, but I didn't want to pass up the opportunity to see it again.
The event was held at the AMC Pacific Place 11 location downtown. I timed my arrival pretty well to arrive fashionably late so I wouldn't be wandering around for a whole hour sipping a mimosa with no one to talk to (I normally attend all of these events by myself). I did see a few familiar faces though, including Antonio Smith, co-founder of Seattle Gents; Lisa Cole, blogger at West Fulton Street and fashion contributor at Vanguard Seattle; Suk Chai, designer of SCHAI and Molly Clifton of Style Miss Molly.
I managed to skip the popcorn (because there's nothing worse than popcorn in your teeth at a fashion event), slip into the theatre before the crowd, and find a perfect center seat. Before the film, we were treated to a highly informative fall fashion presentation with Darcy Camden of Styled Seattle and Andrew Hoge, style writer at Seattle Magazine. I recently realized that I've lost the ability to dress myself so all the tips were very much welcome.
One hundred percent of the ticket sales for this event benefitted Forefront Suicide Prevention. While watching the documentary, it pained me to see how someone so full of life and talent could feel alone enough to end their own life. While I haven't been affected by suicide personally, I will always be sympathetic to those who have been and I'm glad that even though everyone in attendance had the opportunity to view the amazing story of Alexander McQueen, I'm also glad that we were able to support a worthy cause.
