Her Big Day: A Cultural Wedding Affair 2016

I’ve been looking forward to the Her Big Day event since last fall when I met one of the event’s organizers, Karen Okonkwo, at Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection. We were both complimenting Phuong Minh Nguyen, designer of Dream Dresses by P.M.N., on her beautiful (and award-winning) Autumn Winter collection when we got to chatting and she invited me to the event.

The event was held at Double Tree Hilton in SeaTac, WA on January 31st and attended by a very diverse crowd of bloggers, photographers, and, of course, brides-to-be looking for the right details to make their big day perfect. The event space was filled with vendor booths from Seattle Met Bride & Groom, Blossom Box Jewelry, Elsabet Jewelry and much more.

After making my way through the vendors, I prepared for the bridal fashion show. Beautiful wedding gowns, bridal party dresses, and even menswear looks graced the runway from Dream Dresses by P.M.N., Farida Designs, Demestiks New York by Reuben Reuel, Best of Both Worlds Production by Nansare Consolata, Blue Touch Bridal Boutique and Decor, Ravishing Marketplace and other fantastic designers.

Since the event was focused on cultural weddings, many of the looks incorporated modern trends with traditional styles from countries like Dubai, West and East Africa. The models did their job of showing off every fabulous detail of each look. Congratulations to organizers Karen and Beri for putting on an amazing event. I can’t wait for the next show!
