A Peaceful Pause: Celebrating Another Year in the Desert
For my birthday this year, I returned to my peaceful sanctuary: ADERO Scottsdale Resort. It’s the perfect escape to reflect on the past year and recharge for what’s ahead. My birthday trips have become a cherished tradition, a time to reset, dream, and plan for my personal and professional goals.
Once I checked in, I enjoyed the luxury of quiet, slow mornings. Sleeping in felt indulgent and necessary. Room service for breakfast and lunch meant I could fully embrace my solitude and I continued my birthday tradition of watching Mission Impossible: Fallout (since it came out on my birthday in 2018… and it’s the best action movie ever made).
Afternoons were reserved for poolside relaxation. There’s no better way to enjoy the Arizona sun than in the comfort of a private cabana. I spent time listening to music, reading, scrolling through my “morning paper” (also known as my Pinterest feed), sipping refreshing drinks, and letting myself exist in the moment.
Dinner each evening at the resort’s on-site restaurant was a highlight. The food was delicious and satisfying. But even amid the tranquility, I found myself in my head a bit, reflecting on the fact that I was celebrating yet another birthday alone. It’s not always easy to sit with that feeling, but I reminded myself that this is just a season of solo time. I’m learning to embrace it as a chapter that’s preparing me for the next.
In between all the relaxation, I spent time planning for my upcoming move to New York City. It’s a goal that still feels a little overwhelming, but I’m determined to make it happen. Organizing my finances during this trip wasn’t easy, especially since I have two more trips on the horizon: a return to NYC in September for Fashion Futures NYC and my November adventure to F1 Las Vegas, paired with a road trip to Phoenix to see Usher in concert.
Even though some parts of this transition feel uncertain, I haven’t lost sight of the dream. This birthday trip reminded me that progress comes in many forms, and sometimes just holding onto a vision is a step forward.
As I made my way back to the airport, I couldn’t resist stopping for some Raising Cane’s. It was a simple but sweet way to end the trip, adding a touch of comfort before heading home.
This year’s birthday getaway was exactly what I needed. It was a time to pause, reflect, and gather strength for what lies ahead. Things may still feel up in the air, but I’m learning to trust the process and, most importantly, myself. Here’s to another year of growth, new adventures, and keeping the faith, no matter where the journey takes me.
